5 Things to do in Swampscott This Summer

Summertime in Swampscott is incredible. After all, the town was historically a vacation destination where many spent their days grabbing some much needed seaside R&R. However, the summer can be short lived (or anywhere in MA for that matter lol).  So, I created a list of my favorite things to do every summer in Swampscott in order to really capture the true essence of what makes living here so very special.
Get an ice cream on the beach: 

One of my absolute favorite things to do is taking a stroll down to Popos to grab a refreshing ice cream or slush (lemon mmm) then ending the evening walking along the pier. The Boston skyline is absolutely gorgeous and there is nothing more relaxing than the sounds of the ocean.

Rent longboards:

The Surf shop opened up here in Swampscott just a few years ago and is seemingly here to stay. I love watching people take those boards out and ride the waves over on kings beach. So much fun to watch and even more fun to rent!

Have a beach fire & gaze at the stars:

Check with the fire dept. on this one ahead of time because you’ll need a permit (hoping they allow fires this summer) but digging your feet in the sand and gazing at the fire is always great to enjoy with friends on a summer night. 

Jump off the pier:

Full disclosure, not sure if this is ok but heck you only live once! Make sure it’s high tide and maybe you don’t even have to jump… just enjoy the surroundings.

Go on shellfish hunt:

At low tide, you’ll find no better time to take a walk on the beach, watch the sunset and hunt for shellfish. The kids have a blast searching for crabs and the sunsets are mesmerizing. 

So.. Get out there and enjoy this summer
